Design around the way educators actually work rather than around a workflow that is convenient to implement. If a feature only makes sense to whoever built it, it is the wrong feature.
A small team building clearer academic monitoring for Philippine schools
TAKI is an undergraduate capstone project shaped around a simple idea: the records created in a classroom should stay useful, understandable, and available to the people supporting each learner.
It started with how much of teaching happens twice
Attendance and scores are produced during a class: on paper, in a notebook, in someone’s memory until the bell. Then they are copied into a spreadsheet after hours, then summarised again for whoever asks. Every copy is a chance to lose something, and by the time a pattern is visible in all that re-typing, the term is usually over.
TAKI began from watching that happen: educators managing attendance, academic records and monitoring across several disconnected workflows, none of which talked to each other, most of which assumed a connection the classroom did not have.
So we set out to bring those workflows into one practical system. Recorded once, where the record is actually made, and readable by the people responsible for the learner without anyone typing it again.

Four decisions that shape everything else
These are not values on a wall. Each one has ruled out a feature that would otherwise have been easier to build.
Design for interrupted connectivity
Assume the connection will drop, because in many of the rooms TAKI is meant for it does. Recording a record must never wait on a network call.
Make information understandable
Academic information should be clear and usable, not merely stored. Anything TAKI surfaces has to point at a person and a next step, and show the numbers behind it.
Be transparent about limitations
Say plainly what TAKI does today and what is still being built. A product that overstates itself once is a product you have to check every time.

TAKI is shaped by the conditions educators here actually work in: varied academic structures, mixed connectivity, and administrative workflows that differ from one school to the next.

Where we are
This is the current chapter
TAKI is in active development. The team is continuing to refine the experience around practical classroom and school workflows, and learning from the constraints educators meet in real environments.
It is an undergraduate capstone project rather than a commercial product, it carries no service guarantee, and the terms of use say so in writing.
